BIOGRAPHY
Quick FactsCultural Pride. Youth Focused. Christ-Centered. Kenyatta Adeniya Bush.
Kenyatta Adeniya Bush is a highly sought after motivational speaker, activist and preacher who often challenges his audience to strive for a heightened level of cultural awareness. For nearly 17 years, he has blessed audiences with traditional African ideologies and modern African-American philosophies.
Kenyatta, mentored by the late Dr. Asa G. Hilliard III (Nana Amenkwatia Baffour) for over 10 years, has honed his oratorical skills both locally and abroad, speaking at a plethora of schools, universities, churches and cultural centers. His speaking engagements include the 3rd African/African-American Summit in Senegal, West Africa; the Schomburg Center for African-American History in New York City; The Ohio State University; the Association for the Study of Classical African Civilizations’ National Conference at Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina; the National Black Child Development Institute’s National Conference and numerous speaking engagements at Georgia State University.
As an activist, Kenyatta has a passion for justice. He led a three-day student protest at Georgia State University that resulted in the subsequent implementation of the African-American Studies Department. Additionally, he served on the Georgia Municipal Association’s task force on racism, bigotry and prejudice after the Rodney King incident in 1992. Currently, Kenyatta is the vice chair of the Henry County Board of Elections, chair of Connecting Henry and past chair of the Henry County Democratic Party (2005-2007).
In addition to Kenyatta’s cultural and social contributions, he has made strides in the church community as well. Serving as youth pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church in McDonough, Ga, Kenyatta has developed a children’s church there, embracing the youth in order to effectively communicate and bring them closer to Christ. He has assisted in the development of the Shiloh McDonough Community Outreach (SMCO) – the not-for-profit arm of the church – and the development of the Shiloh Day Camp where he serves as director. Kenyatta has a passion for positive youth growth. He has over 17 years of experience addressing youth audiences, as he focuses on meeting them where they are in order to reach and elevate them to a higher standard of thinking and living.
Through his leadership at Shiloh, Kenyatta preaches in Pastor E.W. Lee’s absence, along with a rotation of other ministers. Kenyatta led the congregation during the pastor’s illness that kept him out of the pulpit for over two months recently. Outside of Shiloh, Kenyatta preaches in other venues as well. Some of his preaching highlights include: Shoal Creek BTU and Sunday School Congress of Christian Education, 2006, 2007, 2008; Edward Davies Mission Conference, 2007; Youth Night, New Era Convention, 2006 and Chapel Service, University of West Georgia, 2004.
Kenyatta’s legacy in progress will continue to expand in his areas of passion. What has come forth is just the beginning of the making of a great modern day icon. “Kenyatta is one of the most prolific young scholars I’ve ever encountered. He sets the tone for ‘new jack scholars’ and bridges the gap with the old school.”
- Asa G. Hilliard III
